Oakland Artists Collective

Oakland Artists Collective is a grant-funded project where Oakland University faculty from different disciplines collaborate with students to put on experimental performances in uncommon spaces.

Jonathan Cooper serves as the Artistic Director, alongside Director and founder Justin Lamb and Technical Director, Josh Tomlinson. The project is funded by the Cultural Ambassador Faculty Grant at Oakland University.

The branding needed to be art-forward and function as an insignia of the collective, while being able to take a quiet role when added to the promotional materials for the performances.

The inaugural show, Pulse + Pixels, brought students and faculty together in a night of art and music. We played at the Pontiac Little Art Theater on April 8th, 2026.

The performance included 6 compositions, performed by 5 Oakland University Faculty and 3 students, with experimental videos created for each selected projected onto the performers, designed by Jonathan Cooper and 2 students from the Department of Art, Art History and Design.

See below for selections from each piece.
